IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Edward
Lucich
January 28, 1942 – May 17, 2024
The youngest of seven children, John Edward Lucich was born on January 28,1942 in Portland, Oregon to Ada and John Rado Lucich. He was raised primarily in Estacada and Corvallis, and is a 1960 graduate of Corvallis High School, where he was named Best Personality by his classmates.
John married Judy Byer of Albany in 1975, and over the course of 30 years they owned and managed small grocery stores primarily in the Portland Metropolitan Area, including Stop N Save Market (SE Portland), Stonewalls Market & Deli (SE Portland), Fairview Market (Dallas), Uncle John's Market & Deli (SW Portland) and the Whistle Stop Market (Depoe Bay).
An avid fisherman, carpenter, boater and hunter, John loved spending time outdoors, woodworking in his shop, rebuilding boats, fishing, and spending time with loved ones. During his lifetime John remodeled and rebuilt dozens of stores and homes. John was adored by his family and his friends, and liked by anyone who ever had the opportunity to meet him. His infectious smile, caring spirit, and kindness to everyone will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his wife, Judy, his daughters and four grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held on the Alsea River in June. Contributions can be made in John's honor to SaveHaven Humane Society.
