Juanita J. McGrath, 91, of Albany passed away Monday at the Mennonite Home.
She was born in Seattle, Wash., the daughter of William and Della (Shepech) Engels.
She was raised in Enumclaw, Wash., and graduated from high school there in 1937. She moved to
Bellingham, Wash., and attended Western Washington College of Education. Nita then worked in Seattle for the telephone company and later for San Juan Fishing and Packing Co. where she met Harry A. McGrath. They married in Seattle on July 9, 1949, and settled in Mt. Vernon, Wash., later moving to Albany in 1969.
Nita enjoyed travel, cooking fabulous meals, and her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry A. McGrath of Albany; sons John P. McGrath and wife Debbie of Salem, and James B. McGrath and wife Debbie of Millersburg; daughter Denise Parker and husband Wayne of Albany; five grandchildren, Krista Oswald, Lori Schoepper, Justin McGrath, Annie Parker and Jeff Parker; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Oswald and Will Schoepper; and sister Dorothy G. Seatter of Long Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James and Bernard Engels.
A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany.
