Obituary

Judy Marie (Krabill) Burkholder of Albany, Oregon went peacefully to her heavenly home on June 25, 2024 after a three year battle with metastatic bone cancer. A lifelong resident of Albany, she was born on July 16, 1948 to Kenneth K Krabill and Clara B (Gerig) Krabill.

In 1966 she graduated from Albany Union High School and she continued her education at Hesston College in Kansas. After college she worked as a secretary for the dean of students at Linn-Benton Community College. She would later work for Willamette Seed and Wilbur Ellis while her boys attended school.

She was raised on the family farm but left for a period of time after she married her husband, Weldon Burkholder of Virginia on August 7, 1970. In 1986, along with her husband and two boys she returned to the farm and the farmhouse where she grew up. She resided in this home for a total of 50 years. She had an eye for detail and kept very meticulous records for the farm. Along with book keeping she enjoyed driving farm equipment for the summer harvest, tending to her flower beds, picking gallons of blueberries, sewing and decorating cakes with her mom.

Judy was baptized at the age of twelve and an active member of Fairview Mennonite Church her whole life. She was part of the sewing circle and she spent many years decorating for the annual Christmas pageant as well as singing in the choir. In 1980, she and Weldon started Fairviews' Junior Camp. They remained part of this camp for 29 years. Their grandchildren continue to attend camp and often say it is the highlight of their year.

While she was someone who enjoyed being at home she was able to travel with her sister to both Okinawa and Israel. She and her two boys also traveled together to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip. In 2014 she and Weldon went on a cruise to Alaska to celebrate 40 years of marriage.

Judy was known for her kindness and she greeted everyone with a smile on her face. She especially enjoyed visiting with her family and when it became harder for her to get to the grand kids activities she looked forward to hearing about them.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband of 47 years, her son Kirk Burkholder and her brother Lyle Krabill. She is survived by her son Kent (Heidi) Burkholder, daughter-in-law Amanda (Robert) Burkholder-Moss, her sister Nancy (Steve) Aerni and her eight grandchildren.
