Karon Marie Robare, 71, passed through the gates of heaven on Oct. 26 joining her husband Kevin Grier Robare.

Karon was born in San Diego, California to Forest Victor Murrell and Alberta Francis Scott. Karon would have wanted to acknowledge the man who raised her as a father, Gale Dunbar. Kevin and Karon married on Nov. 30, 1974, and moved to Salem to start their family.

Karon had a 25+ year career working at the Statesman Journal newspaper. Karon was instrumental in getting the daily newspaper on the press and growing the newspaper technology from plates to press, to computer to press operations. Karon attended Dayspring Fellowship in Keizer where she truly served the Lord through her gift of service by making amazing meals for the church, catering events, always with a compassionate heart for others.

Her interests included camping with family, and in retirement she enjoyed traveling with friends and shortly before passing she was able to cross off a bucket list dream trip through Montana, Wyoming and Canada with a dear friend. Karon also loved to knit and blessed many people with wash cloths and blankets over the years.

Karon is survived by her and Kevin's three children, Jeremy, Brandon, and Krista and husband Troy; granddaughter, Emily Grace.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm. Saturday, December 9, at Dayspring Fellowship. Her children will be spreading her ashes, with Kevin's ashes, in Depoe Bay, a place they loved to visit on their anniversary each year.
