Kathleen Verna Brockmann Ingwerson, 84, of Dallas, Oregon passed away peacefully on Sunday,
November 29, 2015 at Cambridge Terrace Assisted Living in Albany, Oregon. Katie ("Birdlegs", as she
was affectionately called by her brother Fred) was born April 28, 1931 to Josephine Anna (Terres) and
Clifton Lowell Brockmann in Coquille, Oregon. She graduated from Coquille High School with the class of 1949. She attended college at Bob Jones University in South Carolina. She returned to Coquille and married Richard E Grant. They had two sons, Richard E. Grant and Daniel G. Grant. They later divorced and Katie moved with her sons to Kansas where she met and married Richard Ingwerson on July 29, 1967 in Dodge City, Kansas. They moved to Scotts Bluff, Nebraska and were married for nearly 42 years at her husband's passing in May of 2009.
In 1982 Katie became a Board Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician through the California College for Respiratory Therapy and practiced at Regional West Medical Center in Scotts Bluff.
Katie had a Gigantic Collection of Jam Jars, over 250! She was interviewed by Taste of
Home Magazine which included a picture of "some" of her jars! Katie enjoyed creating stained glass items, embroidery, quilting and was an avid reader. Katie loved making people smile with her many stories and sparkle. Katie had a special relationship with her brother, Fred and wife Norma and sister Alice and husband Karl. They enjoyed yearly "Liver Lovers" dinners together! Katie loved volunteering in her later years at the Dallas Library and Dallas Hospital. She had a special group of ladies that she always enjoyed and looked forward to weekly dinners with them in Dallas. Katie is survived by her two sons, Richard E Grant (Sally) and Daniel G Grant (Raye) and by her Stepchildren, Clay (Lynn) Ingwerson, Norman, OK; Ricky (John,) Hensley, WY and her brother Fred (Norma) Brockmann, Albany and sister Alice (Karl) Stoner, Eugene and Sister-in-law, Betty Brockman, Albany. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Travis (Eva) Grant, Stephanie (Jason) Weber, Dustin (Amy) Grant, Holly (Nate) Weddle
and Step Grandchildren: Rachel (Larry) Hopkins, Ryan (Kim) Morris ; Great Grandchildren: Olivia, Madison, Payton, Cooper and Everett. Step Great Grandchildren: Saeda and Halia. And many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Katie was predeceased by her husband Richard Ingwerson; her parents; her brother, Vernon and
sister, Carol. A Memorial Service will be January 23, 2016 at 2 pm at Albany First Assembly Church officiated by Pastor Stan Baker. Donations may be made to Katie's favorite charity, The Humane Society, or to a charity of one's choice. Reception will follow the Service at the church.
