Keith Anthony SkarpholMay 29, 1952 - January 28, 2009Keith A. Skarphol, 56, of Albany went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday.He was born an identical twin, in Portland, the son of Arthur and Sylvia (Brorby) Skarphol.  He was raised in Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970.  Keith served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975 in Heidelberg, Germany. He married Charlene Yvonne Beasley March 19, 1983, in Portland, and six months later they came to Albany where Keith taught in the Head Start program and continued his education. He also worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a fire fighter during this time. He graduated from Western Oregon State College in 1988 and then began teaching in Albany area elementary schools.  He taught at Fir Grove, Oak Grove, South Shore, and then at Central since 1993. He received the "Distinguished Teacher" award for the 1992 to 1993 school year.  Keith was very involved at his church where he worked with children and youth of all ages.He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Tangent and Oregon Reading Association.  Keith was always an Oregon Duck fan.  He enjoyed baseball, hunting, camping, golfing and many other outdoor activities.He is survived by his wife, Charlene Skarphol of Albany; son Evan Keith Skarphol; and daughter Jenna Elise Skarphol, all of Albany;  sisters Sharon Ginter of Clayton, Calif.; Kathy Shelton of Florence and Penny Skarphol of Portland;  brother Arden Skarphol; and twin brother Kelly Skarphol, both of Portland. He was preceded in death by his parents.A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Bible Fellowship in Tangent.  There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Aasum-Dufour Funeral Home.In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Haiti Foundation of Hope P.O.
