Lawrence Dale Ramsey, 70, of Jefferson passed away Thursday, August 16, at his home.He was born February 19, 1937 in Uniontown, Kansas the son of Frank and Emma (McHenry) Ramsey. When he was five, his family moved to Canyonville, OR where Larry attended school. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and served for 18 years. He then worked in mining with his father before becoming a millwright in southern Oregon. Larry later began working as an electrical estimator until his retirement in 2005.Larry enjoyed mining for gold, woodworking, country/western music, and John Wayne movies.He is survived by his wife Jo Ramsey of Jefferson, OR. daughters Mala Williams of Gold Hill and Nandeeta Ramsey of Jefferson; brother Melvin D. Ramsey of Indiana; sister Jacqualine Bowman-Ramsey of California; grandchildren Jonathan, Dalton and Grace Williams, all of Gold Hill, OR. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert V. and Frank A. Ramsey.A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 22, at 2:30 P.M. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements. (
