Leona Lennis Sorem O'Connell passed away at the Samaritan Albany General Hospital on Tuesday, at the age of 84.

Leona was born in Carrington, ND on December 4, 1934. She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds (especially hummingbirds), cooking and baking, quilting, camping and being with her family and friends.  She loved to find any reason to gather her family together and made a party out of it whenever possible.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Leo.  They were married in Carrington, ND on October 4, 1957.

Leona is lovingly remembered by her children; John, Donald and wife Karri, Carmen and husband Tom, and Larry and wife Dawn; grandchildren Andrew, Hayley and husband Jim, Erin, Mallory and husband Darian, Sarah and husband Blake, and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren Ryder and Emma.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; daughter Kathy and her husband Warren; and daughter-in-law Charlene.

The family would like to invite friends to come share stories, food and drink at an open house at the O'Connell's from 1-4 on Tuesday, November 5, to honor this wonderful lady that touched so many.
