Obituary

LeRoy C. "Bud" Lucht, 85, of Albany passed away Thursday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.

He was born in Albany, on Water Street, the son of Carl and Olga (Stuber) Lucht. Bud was raised in Albany and attended first through sixth grade at the old North Albany School then seventh thru ninth at Central and then graduated from Albany Union High School. His family moved to Joseph to run a ranch and Bud helped out for a few years before going to work for Pacific Motor Trucking. He worked for PMT for 37 years, then 10 to 12 years with his wife Joneth in property management. He retired in 1997. He married Joneth Ann Jones at Immanuel Lutheran Church on July 30, 1966.

Bud was an avid Gardener and fisherman and loved his tools, barn and shop. He was a collector of Stationary Gas engines and enjoyed his practical jokes and music was a large part of his life.

Bud was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Enduring "A's" Model A Club, was a founding member of the Northwest Banjo Band, Member of the Western Steam Fiends, and taught junior high and high school Sunday school at Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years.

Bud is survived by wife Joneth Ann Lucht of Albany; numerous nieces and nephews including three nieces he helped raise: Nancy George, Carol Armstrong and Shirley Karstens; and many cousins including Harold Klages of Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Esther Karstens and Joan Bartz.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Willamette Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bruce Ley officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany Boys and Girls Club and sent in care of the funeral home.
