Lesly “Sassy” Egan, 79, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, in Albany, Oregon.
Born on January 16, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Lesly built a life centered on family, faith, and
caring for others. She earned a B.A. in home economics from California State University, Long
Beach, a course of study that reflected gifts she carried throughout her life in the ways she
welcomed people, cared for her home, and shared her talents with those around her.
Lesly was a caretaker in the fullest sense of the word. She loved her family and dear friends,
and she found joy in planning gatherings and get-togethers throughout the year. She especially
enjoyed entertaining and hosting holiday parties, bringing people together with warmth and
generosity. For Lesly, hospitality was expressed in thoughtful details and in the simple,
meaningful act of sharing what she had made. Her love language was baked goods, which she
happily shared with family, friends, and the "Parkside" neighbors.
She filled her days with many interests and pastimes. Lesly enjoyed cooking, sewing, watercolor
painting, reading, solitaire, water skiing, and dancing. These pursuits reflected a life rich with
activity, creativity, and connection. Whether preparing something for others to enjoy, spending
time with a book, initiating a breakout dance session, or water skiing on summer weekends, she
embraced the pleasures of everyday life in ways that will be remembered by those who knew
her.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Lesly had a deeply personal
relationship with Jesus, and that faith led her in grace, love, and compassion toward those
around her. Those who loved her take comfort in knowing she is with her Savior even now,
without pain or tears.
Lesly is survived by her three daughters, Maureen (Jayson) Tobey, Mary (Jeff) Hawkinson, and
Allison Egan; and by her three grandsons, Elijah, Garrett, and Blake Hawkinson. She will be
joining her beloved and recently deceased husband, Michael F Egan, and their infant son, Eric
Egan.
Lesly Egan will be remembered for the care she gave, the gatherings she planned, the holidays
she hosted, and the many baked goods she shared so freely with the people in her life. Her
memory will remain close to all who were blessed to know her.
A Funeral Mass will be held on September 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St Mary's (Our Lady of
perpetual Help) Catholic church 815 Broadalbin St SW, Albany Oregon. Luncheon to follow the
service.
