Lewis A Bacheller 87 of Albany, passed away on Saturday, at Carlene's Comfort Care in Scio.

Lewis was born in Mt. Vernon, South Dakota , to Lewis H. and Nellie (Pettitt) Bacheller . He moved around alot as a child being the son of a Nazarene Pastor and Missionary. Lewis graduated from high school in Spokane, WA. and began attendeding an Aviation Training School in Washington and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy with some friends in Nov. of 1942. While in the Navy he was stationed in Oregon and Met Nancy Lou McLean at a bowling alley in North Bend. They were married a few months later on March 14, 1945 in CoosBay, Oregon at her parents home. After Lewis's discharge from the service they moved to San Bruno. CA. in 1946 where he began a career with United Airlines that in June of 1969 brought them to San Jose, CA. In 1980 they began attending Bethel Assembly of God Church in San Jose where they were very involved with "Saints Alive" and many other functions of the Church. In 2007 they moved to Albany, OR. to be near family and in Aug. of 2010 Nancy preceded Lewis in death.

Lewis is survived by , son L. Joe Bacheller and wife Gay of Aurora, Colo.; daughter Linda and husband Dennis Bowen of Scio; granddaughters Shelly Hanson of Lebanon, and Monique and husband Doug Parazoo of Scio; grandsons Greg Bacheller and wife Krissy, Jeff Bacheller and wife Kortney, and Steve Bacheller and wife Brigette, all of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren Ashley, Steffie, and Anthony Johnson, Josh and Justin Parazoo, and Katie, Rachael, Caley and Lawson Bacheller; and great-great grand-daughter Brooke Stock.

A visitation and reception will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a graveside service with military honors to follow at 1 p.m. at the Bilyeu-Den Cemetery in Scio.
