Lida Clare GunterJuly 21, 1916 - December 5, 2008Lida Clare Gunter, 92, of Albany died Friday.She was born in Castle Rock, Wash., to Henry H. and Jenny F. (Greene) Melton.  In 1940 she married William W. Smith.  They were married for 31 years until William's passing in 1971.  Together they had three children, Cecil Smith of Brookings, Ore., Dorothy (Smith) Burton of Albany, Ore., and James Smith of Camas, Wash.In 1974 Lida married Samuel J. Gunter and they resided in Vancouver, Wash. Samuel passed away in  1983.  Lida moved to Albany in July of 2003 to be near her daughter and has lived there until her death.Lida is survived by her son Cecil; daughter Dorothy; grandchildren Jill, Ryan, Jason, William and Suzann; great-grandchildren Sydney, Jessica, Avery, Bailey and Taylor; stepchildren August Cook of Seattle, Wash., William Gunter of Los Angeles, Calif., and Beverly Pettit of Suffold, Va.;numerous nieces and nephews; and a myriad of adopted kids and grandkids.She was preceded in death by her husbands, William W. Smith and Samuel J. Gunter; son James W. Smith; and stepdaughter Barbara McMackin.Funeral Service will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 10 at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Wash., with a burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
