A life well lived has come to an end. Linda A. Sims, a longtime resident of Albany, died on February 24 at her home in North Albany, (Vollstedt Farms) at the age of 79.

Linda was born in Walla Walla, WA, the daughter of Kenneth G and Ruth L (Robertson) Sims. Her family moved to Portland, OR when she was under 3 years old and grew up there. She attended Madison High School until her junior year when the family moved, and she then attended and graduated from Parkrose High School. She received her degree in Pharmacy from Oregon State University.

Linda worked for Bi-Mart Pharmacy for several years in Albany, East Salem, and Corvallis, both full-time and part-time. After her partner Phyllis Vollstedt purchased a farm in North Albany, she joined in the successful endeavor of breeding Polled Hereford cattle and growing Christmas trees. In 1995, Vollstedt Farms bred and owned the National Champion Polled Hereford Bull. Generations of families in the Albany area have enjoyed selecting their Christmas trees from Vollstedt Farms choose and cut, including wagon rides and treats, which brought as much joy to Linda over the many years as it did to families in the community.

She was preceded in death by her partner of 47 years, Phyllis Vollstedt in 2014 and survived by her brothers, Herb Sims (Connie) of Salem and Ron Sims (Jan) of Sahuarita, AZ, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In celebration of Linda's life, we invite all who knew her to join us for an open house gathering on Saturday, March 23, 2024, between 2 pm - 4, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St S.W., Albany, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, OSU Foundation, or the Legacy Good Samaritan Kidney Transplant Fund, in memory of Linda Sims / Vollstedt Farms.
