Lois V. Griswold, age 90, of Albany, OR, passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2013 at
Quail Run Assisted Living Facility with family at her side.
Lois was born May 20, 1922 in Billings, OK to Clarence and Jennie Wilson. Lois' family
moved to North Bend, OR when she was 14. There she completed high school and
worked various jobs before marrying Charles Griswold in 1949. They lived and worked
in North Bend, Roseburg, The Dalles and, eventually, Albany.
Lois and "Chuck" enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking and mountain climbing and
were members of the Mazamas. Lois also loved gardening, bowling, sewing,
volunteering and traveling. She was a leader in weight watchers and held various
offices in Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a lifetime member of the
Methodist Church. Most of all, Lois loved spending time with family.
Lois saw the humor in life and loved to tell a good story. Those who knew her soon also
knew of a humorous anecdote from her life. She loved to laugh and to give others joy.
She was also hardworking and tenacious, and she tackled life steadfastly. When life
threw her a curve, she overcame the obstacles with that same humor and
determination. She will be greatly missed.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Griswold and her four siblings:
Clarence Junior Wilson, Alice Thompson, Robert Wilson and Merle Wilson.
She is survived by her 2 daughters: Jeannette Bailey of Portland and Joan Harding of
Bandon; 4 granddaughters: Kimberly Harding of Sherwood, Sandra Fox of Puyallup,
WA, Martha Bailey of San Antonio, TX, and Margie Thissell of Portland; and 4 great
grandchildren: Jared, Mackenzie, Luke and Logan Fox.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, Feb. 2nd, at the Assembly of God
Church in Bandon, OR following a brief 1 PM graveside service at Sunset Memorial
Park in Coos Bay, OR.
