Lois Mary SymondsJuly 18, 1918 - December 8, 2009Lois M. Symonds, 91 of Albany passed away Tuesday at her home.She was born in Johnsonville, Tenn., the daughter of Roby and Cassie Robinson. When Lois was still a child the family moved to Dallas, where she was raised and graduated from High School. She married Ervin W. York and they had three sons and later divorced. During WW II Lois worked as a crane operator in Vancouver, Wash. She married "Curly" Foch Symonds in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Lois owned and operated the Y Cafe on the Salem Dalles Highway, then the Hi Ho Resturant in Independence for 20 years, then the Linton House in Albany for eight years before retiring to Newport. After living in Newport for six years Lois came back to Albany to stay.She enjoyed traveling, crafts, needle work, cooking and being with her family. She was a member of the Professional Business Woman's Association and St. Mary's Catholic Church.Lois is survived by sons, Perry of Depoe Bay, Dan of Lincoln City, and Ben of Orfino, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Vernon Robinson.A visitation will be at 9 a.m.Tuesday, to service time at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic Charity of the donors choice.
