Lola L. Bacon, 74, of Albany was promoted to glory Friday.
She was born in Lovell, Wyo., the daughter of William and Gladys (Cole) Hoffman. She served in the U.S. Navy and married Floyd C. Bacon on Oct. 26, 1957, in Falls Church, Va. Lola attended the Salvation Army School for Officers Training from September 1973 to June 1975, and she and Floyd held appointments as corps officers/pastors in Sitka, Alaska, from 1975 to 1977; Juneau, Alaska, from 1977 to 1984; Vancouver, Wash., from 1984 to 2001; and Glendale, Calif., from 2001 to retirement. They then came out of retirement to serve in Albany from 2007 to 2011.
She enjoyed sewing, stamp collecting and arts and crafts of all kinds. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and very involved in TOPS.
Lola is survived by her husband of 54 years, Floyd C. Bacon of Albany; foster daughter Kathleen and husband Dana Johnson of Port Angeles, Wash.; son William Bacon of California; nieces Vera Humphries and Vicky Christofferson, both of Albany; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Albany Salvation Army Church, 345 Columbus St. S.E.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Albany Corps Building Campaign and sent in care of the church.
