Lowell James Barrett, 86, of Scio passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.
Lowell was born Jan. 8, 1930, to James Barrett and Jessie Belknap in Creston, Nebraska.
He went to school in Creston and served in the Marines from 1948 to 1952.
On June 4, 1957, he married Elizabeth Anne Ridder in Madison, Nebraska.
They moved to Oregon in 1960. Lowell was a life member of Albany American Legion Post 10, Marine Corps League and American Vets. He worked for Oremet for 32 years.
Lowell is survived by wife Elizabeth; sons Joseph and wife Loretta, Richard and wife Shirley, Robert and Wife Shannon, and David and wife Missi; daughters Donna Volbeda and friend Lela, and Ann Krebs and husband Phil; 10 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.
