Obituary

Lowell Bernard Cox, affectionately known as Barney to his friends and family, peacefully passed away of natural causes on February 6, 2025, in his hometown of Albany, Oregon. Born March 24, 1928, to the late Roy and Alzie Cox

In 1950 Barney married the love of his life, Katherine who preceded him in death. Together they raised a family that included their children the late Connie Beattie, Tim Cox, Laura Huddleson, the late Buzz Cox, Jim Cox, Pam Hardwick, and Greg Cox. The family grew to encompass a legacy of grandchildren: Troy Beattie, Aaron Beattie, the late Chad Perkins, Emily Manfredonia, Terra Waelty, Shawna Cox, Riley Cox, Holly Cox, Jess Huddleson, Kelli Hardwick, Marshall Cox, and Katrina Hanson. Barney also delighted in the joys of his 13 great-grandchildren and 7.5 great- great- grandchildren.

Barney was a proud graduate of Albany High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and perseverance. His career as a heavy equipment operator was more than a job; it was a passion. He parlayed his skills into a successful business, clearing land for local farmers and contributing significantly to the agricultural development of his community.

Barney's life was marked by his friendly demeanor, generous nature, and genial spirit. He was a man who made friends easily and kept them for life. His home was often filled with laughter and camaraderie, especially during the card games he so enjoyed with his wife Katherine, and their dear friends Jack and Bev. He loved telling stories about growing up on the family farm with his 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Beyond his family and friends, Barney was known in the community for his willingness to lend a helping hand to. Whether it was through his work or everyday interactions, he embodied the spirit of generosity that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Barney, we celebrate a life well-lived. He was a man who cherished his family, took pride in his work. His legacy is one of love, hard work, and the kind of genuine friendliness that makes the world a better place.

Barney's memory will be held dear not only by his immediate family but also by the many lives he touched throughout his 96 years. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, and a true friend to many.

The Cox family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who shared in Barney's life and contributed to his wonderful journey. His presence will be sorely missed, but the memories he created will continue to comfort and inspire
