Obituary

Lucille H. Maier, 95, of Troutdale, formerly Albany, passed away Sunday at her home.

She was born in Mill City the daughter of George A. and Pearl E. (Cooper) Eastman. She was raised in North Albany and married Albert H. Maier on April 27, 1940, in Eugene at Grace Lutheran Church with his uncle The Rev. W.M. Maier officiating.

Prior to their marriage they purchased part of the old Cooper homestead from her parents and began building a home on North Albany Road. They raised three children: Janice, Jim and Sheryl. In 2005 they reluctantly left their home to move to Troutdale to be near Janice and Sheryl. They transferred membership to Ascension Lutheran Church in Portland from Immanuel Lutheran in Albany.

She is survived by daughters Janice and husband Larry Hart, and Sheryl Maier; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters, all of Troutdale; sister-in-law Pattie Maier of Joseph; and brother Loren Kreger of Scio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Jim; brother Ivan Lebold; and sisters Rena Houglum and Virginia Kreger.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Palestine Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Ascension Lutheran Church 1440 S.E. 182nd Ave., Portland, with a luncheon to follow.

Memorial contributions may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
