Mabel Charlotte VolzOct. 22, 1921 - April 18, 2010Mabel Charlotte Volz, 88, of Albany passed away Sunday with her family at her side.She was born in Burdock, S.D. the daughter of Hans and Mary (Cooksey) Anderson. She was raised and received her education in Burdock and then moved to San Pedro, Calif., in 1941. Mabel married Eldon Cramblett June 14, 1943, and they came to Sweet Home in 1966. In 1974 they moved to Coos Bay and Eldon preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1976. In 1980 Mabel moved to Albany and married Theodore B. Volz Oct. 30, 1982 and he preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1999. Mabel worked as a supervisor for the Telephone Company in Burbank, Calif., before coming to Oregon and as an internal auditor for Volume Shoes. She retired in 1982.She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Albany Senior Center and a past member of the American Legion Post 10 Auxillary, Eagles Auxillary, and the Elks Auxillary. Mabel enjoyed gardening, kneedle work, and playing cards with her friends.She is survived by son, Virgil Camblett of Sweet Home; daughter Karen Drushella of Lebanon; stepdaughters Shirley Bilyeu of Albany and Debbie Volz of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; stepson Chuck Volz of Albany; sisters Agnes Medsker of Sequim, Wash., and Jane Coates of Edgemont, S.D.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Susan Walker, seven brothers and two sisters.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Memorial Fund at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, or the Albany Senior Center. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
