Margaret Ethel Welliver, 96, of Albany passed away Tuesday at the Mennonite Home.
She was born in Williston, N.D., the daughter of Leslie and Helen (Brown) White. She was raised in Williston and attended Minot State Teachers College where she met Harry B. Welliver who was a music teacher at the college. They married in Minot, N.D., on July 31, 1937, and began a wonderful life of music together. Harry played the Organ and Margaret directed the choir. They ministered for many years in many churches. They came to Albany in 1975 where they continued to minister at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dr. Craig and Dr. Lynne Welliver Chester of Salinas, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law David and Mary Welliver of Ann Arbor, Mich.; brother and sister-in-law Dave and Dani White of Albany; sisters Jeanne Urban of Miles City, Mont., and Joyce Mueller of Port Orford; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; sister Elizabeth Phillips; and her parents.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. A private burial will be at Willamette Memorial Park.
