Marian Carter, 92, of Albany passed away Sunday at her home in Albany after a long illness.
She was born in Myrtle Creek the daughter of Suzanna and Ferdinan Reller. She was one of two girls and nine boys.
Marian met Edwin F. Carter in Vernonia in 1940. They were married in Lebanon on Sept. 14, 1940, and made their home in Vernonia. Ed and Marian celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary prior to Ed's death in 2011. After they were married, Marian was a homemaker and worked in the shipyards. The couple moved to Longview, Wash., in 1943, where they lived until they moved to Sweet Home in 1946.
Marian was a caregiver for several years, and then went to work for White's Electronics in Sweet Home. In 1991 Ed and Marian moved to Albany. In their retirement years, Ed and Marian spent eight winters in Arizona. They were members of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Marian is survived by daughters Linda Reiling of Albany, Joyce Baxter and husband Lyle of Ocean Park, Wash., Betty Heagy and husband Ron of Tangent, Teresa Carter of Prineville, and Susan Tuller and husband Randy of Lebanon; sons Walter Carter and wife Gina of Independence, and Thomas Carter and wife Glenne of Medford; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. This is a legacy of love and fruitfulness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and one sister.
A funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, St. Mary's Catholic Church.
