Claire Basey, 89, of Albany passed away Sunday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
She was born in the country of Trinidad the daughter of Otto and Agnus (Donhue) Bosse. She was raised in Trinidad and went to school there. She married James Stephen Basey in Prineville on Oct. 5, 1947. They moved to Albany in 1974 and have been here since.
Claire worked as an office administrator for Albany General Hospital and retired in 1980. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and loved her family very much.
She is survived by her husband, Jim S. Basey of Albany; sons Al Shultz of San Jose, Calif., and Jim S. Basey Jr. of Salem; daughters Dinah McKay of Bolder, Colo., and Marjorie Anne Basey of Albany; grand-daughter Sarah Ann Basey of Albany; grandson Anthony T. Shultz of San Jose, Calif.; and sister Angela Hillary Siddal of Pennsylvania
A rosary prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.
