Marie I WhiteOct. 30, 1943 - Nov. 26, 2008Marie I. White, 65, of Albany passed away Wednesday at her home. She was born in Binghamton, N.Y. to Arthur and Joyce Johnson.  On April 28, 1962,  she married Gary L. White in Las Vegas, Nev.Between working for the schools Marie also set up offices for membership sales around the country.  She lived in almost all of the continental United States during her lifetime.Her real love was working for the schools. She knew thousands of students by name over the 20 plus years and wouldn't let any of them go hungry.  She helped set up and organize may after school programs at Calapooia Middle School such as a babysitter's club, photography club, police club, and the one she is most famous for:s the lunch buddies.  She was known for working  rather than taking care of herself.  She quotes, "why would I stay home when I could be helping a child."Marie was a very devoted mother and wife,  she spoiled everyone with love.Marie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary L. White; sons Dan White, and Mike and wife Tami White all of  Albany; granddaughters Danielle White of Jefferson, and Mandi and Michelle White of Eugene; and brother Dave Johnson of Albany. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Amanda White of Albany; and parents Art and Joyce Johnson of Albany.A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Calapooia Middle School.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the Marie White Foundation at Calapooia Middle School, Breast Cancer Research, or Doernbecher Children's Hospital.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
