Obituary

Marion Wylie WilsonApril 10, 1911 - May 18, 2010Marion W. Wilson, 99, of Albany passed away Tuesday at his home.He was born in Concordia, Kans., the son of William L. and Mary (Andrews) Wilson.  In 1915 they moved to Iowa and Marion graduated from high school in Morning Sun, Iowa, in 1930 and then attended Wesleyan College in Iowa and graduated in 1934.  He came to Albany in 1936 and went to work for Mountain States Power Company in 1937.  Marion married Clara Berna Underwood in Albany on June 7, 1938, and in 1957 went to work for Pacific Power and retired in 1975.  Clara preceded him in death in October of 1993.Marion loved to garden before he lost his eyesight and enjoyed listening to KWIL radio, spending time with family and visiting with friends.  He was proud of his life accomplishments and best known for his garden at his home in North Albany. Marion was a very active member of Albany United Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher.  He was also an active member of the Albany Garden Club and the Fairmont Grange Hall.He is survived by son, Byron L. Wilson; grandson Dean and wife Anna Wilson of Albany; granddaughter Dawn Cunningham; great-grandsons Clayton Cunningham of Imbler,  and Hunter Wilson of Albany;  sister-In-law Elfi Wilson of Bonanza; and nephews Darrell and wife Bonnie, and Paul Wilson.He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; parents William and Mary Wilson;  three sisters;  two brothers; son Bradley D. Wilson; and great-grandson Keagan Wylie Wilson.A Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at the Funeral Home.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
