Jean HulburtOct. 22, 1923-July 25, 2008Jean Hulburt , 84, of Albany died Friday.In Salem, she was born Marjorie Jean Bates, to Thomas and Louella Bates.Jean and Willard F. Hulburt were married Nov. 9, 1945 in Salem. Willard passed away Sep. 19, 1996. Jean worked for Ladd & Bush Bank, the Secretary of State in Salem.  In Albany she worked for Linn County, the City of Albany, Frager Furniture and C. D. Bud Spencer of IMT Bekins. She retired in August of 1970.Jean had been an active member of Gamma Mu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority since 1959.  She served as president of the chapter and all other offices and committees. She served as district president and Oregon state council president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority.She was a fund raiser chairman for the Linn County March of Dimes and secretary and board chairman. She was awarded the most outstanding volunteer over a three year period within the state of Oregon.Jean was a charter member of the Albany Elkettes 359 since 1978 and served as president along with other offices and committee chairmanships. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 40 and served as secretary and president, VA&R chairman and correspondent secretary and membership chairman.Jean always felt she lived a full life, rich with many many friends and blessed with the true love of her family.She is survived by her sons, Tom and Willard Jr.;  daughter Linda Graham; granddaughters Jodie K. Bowens-Shilling and Mindy Hulburt; grandsons Brad, Kirk and Ben Hulburt; great-grandsons Steven Lee Kauffman, Caleb Shilling and Phoenix Hulburt; and great-granddaughters Natilie and Taylor.A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Orleans Cemetery on Riverside Dr. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
