Mark Leland MillerJuly 3, 1938 - November 15, 2008Mark Leland Miller, 70, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer and was rewarded with a place in Heaven on Saturday. Mark was born to William and Merline (Neuschwander) Miller at their home near Harrisburg, the oldest of seven children. He grew up with a love of farming that he maintained throughout his life. He married Harriett White at the age of 19, on July 14, 1957.  They moved to Scio in 1965 where Mark lived until his death.  They were married 43 years.  Harriett passed away March 2000, due to cancer, as well. Mark worked at Fisher Implement for 43 years and retired from there on December 31, 2000.He was a man of integrity and lived a life helping others whenever and however he could.  He had a photographic memory and could explain how to fix farm equipment over the telephone without even seeing it. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, traveling, and farming.  He especially enjoyed going to the Catlow Valley of Oregon and playing cowboy when he could. His family meant the world to him.  Mark and Harriett had 3 children, LuAnne, Mark, and Kimberly.  LuAnne married Tim Rushing and they have 3 children, Jaime, Cory, and Matthew.  Jaime is married to Kyle Sullivan and she is due with the first great-grandchild.  Mark married Karen Hays and they have 2 children, Travis and Leah.  Kimberly married Bob Daugherty and have 3 daughters, Whitney, Katie, and Nicole. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them.  He provided various jobs for them around the farm and it was a pleasure for him to see them learn how to combine, plow, and drive the AMT on the Miller Farm. He married June Sexton on March 4, 2005.  They traveled together and June was a devoted wife and caregiver throughout his illness.Mark was preceded in death by his father, William Miller, sister Frieda, and wife, Harriett. He is survived by wife June, mother, Merline Miller, brothers, Truman, Emerson, Allen, sisters Myrna Hamblin and Glenda Miller, son Mark W., daughters LuAnne and Kimberly and their families.   A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Albany First Assembly of God Church.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Evergreen Hospice, or the American Cancer Society in Mark's memory.
