Mark Wayne Stevens passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. Mark was born in Salem, Oregon to Harold and Bonita Stevens. He grew up in Monmouth, Oregon. Mark attended schools in Monmouth, Oregon and in Arizona.
Mark joined the US Army, and served in Vietnam. Mark was also a member of the National Guard. After his service, he became an air traffic controller and worked for the FAA in Klamath Falls, Portland, and Eugene. During his employment in Eugene, Mark was involved in the Eugene Tower Aviation program and the Lane Community College Flight Technology program. In addition, Mark was a member of the Brownsville Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. During this time, Mark actively participated in the Fire Prevention Education Program.
Mark was married to Marcia Jane Stevens for 16 years.
Mark enjoyed everything to do with aviation and collected radio-controlled airplanes. He was also a faithful and active volunteer with the Corvallis High School Band.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Harold Stevens. Mark is survived by his wife Marcia Stevens, his step son Arnold Poole Jr., sister Leah Stevens, and mother Bonita Stevens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fire Prevention Education Program through the Brownsville and Halsey Fire Departments, and to the Corvallis High School Band Program.
A celebration of life service will take place at the Brownsville Fire Station on Sunday, August 28 at 1 p.m. A private burial will follow the service.
