Mary Frances Goss, 91, of Albany passed away at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis on Nov. 12, 2016.
Mary was born in Sawyer, Oklahoma, to James and Laura Gilcrease (Gilmore). She was one of 12 children. While she was growing up, she spent time working in the cotton fields. During the war, Mary worked at Douglas Air Force Base and was a member of the Rosie the Riveters Organization.
After the war, Mary went to work as a waitress at a restaurant in Oklahoma City. While working, she met J.D. Goss. They got married four weeks later on Nov. 3, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were married for 53 years until J.D.'s passing.
Mary loved to read and enjoyed doing puzzles. She was a very kind and gentle person who will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her husband J.D., both parents and eight of her siblings.
Mary is survived by son Dan Goss and wife Kathy of Hillsboro; daughter Judy Cooper and husband Loyd of Albany; brother John W. Gilcrease of Oklahoma; sisters Daisy B. Nance of Bethany, Oklahoma, and Laura E. Harris of Oklahoma; grandchildren Zion, David, Sarah, Daniel, Kim, Tony, Kimberly and Robert; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place at noon Friday, Nov. 18, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a reception to follow. There will be a concluding graveside service at Twin Oaks Mausoleum in Albany.
Donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in honor of Mary.
