Mary E. LeyNovember 19, 1946 - August 23, 2008Mary E. Ley, 61, of Albany, Oregon died Saturday night at her home, following a five year battle with breast cancer.Mary was born in Sunnyside, Wash., the daughter of George and Daisy (Allen) Wolkenhauer. She lived in Grandview, Wash., through high school, and remained in the Northwest most of her life. For the past 11 years, Albany, Oregon, has been her home, together with Rev. Bruce G. Ley, her husband of 42 years.Mary especially enjoyed her family and friends, serving the Lord Jesus Christ in the Church, card making, writing letters, numerous crafts, yard work, traveling, and all things pink.She is survived by her husband Bruce; daughter Angie Ley of Meridian, Idaho; son Dan of Monroe, Oregon; eight siblings in Washington: Helen Henry of Bremerton, Earl Wolkenhauer of Wenatchee, Betty Yager of Connell, Linda, Glenda, and Roy Wolkenhauer, all of Grandview, Paul Wolkenhauer of Vancouver, and Tom Wolkenhauer of Prosser. In addition she is survived by numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives across the nation. In the presence of many family and close friends, Mary's body will be committed to the earthly grave on Friday, August 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Grandview Cemetery. A memorial service will follow the committal at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sunnyside, Washington at 3:30 p.m.. On September 4th at 3 p.m. a memorial service for her will also be held at Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Albany, where her husband has served as pastor since 1997.
