Obituary

Mattie Lou McGill, 87, of Turner passed away Monday at Over the Rainbow Private Care Home in Salem.

She was born in Antlers, Okla., the daughter of Thomas H. and Hattie Bell (Ellis) Pilcher. Mattie married DeRoy McGill on June 11, 1942, in Jefferson and they resided in Turner on a farm that the family still runs today. She was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day in Marion and was very active on the Women's Ministry Committee and had served as the treasurer.

Mattie enjoyed painting, gardening and was a wonderful baker and homemaker.

She is survived by son Will E. McGill of Turner; daughter Debora McGill-Knaup of Keizer; sister Blanche Davis of Salem; brothers Tom Pilcher of Jefferson and Gene Pilcher of Scio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Jefferson Pioneer Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Marion Church of God Seventh Day, 7478 Stayton Road.
