Maxine Helen Simmons, 82, of Albany died Saturday.
Maxine was born Maxine Shewbert in San Diego, Calif. She grew up in California and Oregon graduating from high school in Portland.
She married George Simmons in 1965. He preceded her in death. She had one child, Cynthia Hatfield of Albany; and three stepchildren, Sally Simmons and Gary Simmons who preceded her in death, and Connie Simmons of Eugene. She had six grandchildren, Bryan, Eric, Crystal, Timothy, Mandy and Amy; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Robert Shewbert of Portland.
Maxine worked in banking for over 40 years first at Citizen's Valley Bank, then Key Bank and most recently at Citizen's Bank where she ran a one-woman show at the Mennonite Village Satellite branch. She was known as Maxine the bank lady who really went the extra mile for her customers.
Maxine loved her family, diet Pepsi and taking care of her bank customers. She was loved greatly and will be missed.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, at South Albany Community Church with a reception to follow. A family graveside will be at Willamette Memorial Park.
