Mazie Rediger, 88, of Albany, formerly of Miller, S.D., passed away Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Miller to Sanford and Matilda (Jacobsen) Hines. She grew up south of Miller and attended Miller High School, graduating in 1941.
Mazie married Maurice Rediger on Sept. 4, 1941, north of Miller in a double wedding with her sister Doris and Millerd, who was Maurice's brother. Maurice and Mazie farmed in St. Lawrence, S.D., until 1969. They then moved to Albany and owned their own paint business called M&M Painting.
She was preceded in death by husband Maurice in 1996, daughter Coralee Knox, granddaughter Toni Rediger and great-grandson M.J. Rediger.
Mazie is survived by her children and their spouses, Judy and Ed Sessions of Mesa, Ariz., Carolyn and Ray Stutzman of Albany, Ben and Sheila Rediger of Harrisburg, and son-in-law Paul Knox of Harrisburg; brother Tom Hines of San Francisco; sister Helen Faucett of Miller; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Fairview Mennonite Church, with private family burial at Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg.
