Michael James Hamer, affectionately known to his family and friends, as Mike, Milkman or Chester, 58, passed away on Nov. 17, with his daughter and family by his side.
Mike was a devoted father, brother and friend who will always be remembered for his loyalty, compassion and devotion to his family and friends.
Mike was born to Phyllis Sampson and Flavious Hamer in Reno, Nev. Michael, Mike served proudly in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1985 before moving to Oregon to raise his family. Mike loved living in Oregon, loved his family and friends, loved running his business and loved riding his Harley. Life was an adventure for him and he loved his time on the open road seeing and experiencing life in all its glory. Mike was a very generous man and was involved with many local charities. Whenever he was called upon by friends, family or anyone in need, Mike was there. Mike was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all.
Mike is survived by his parents, Phyllis Sampson and Flavious Hamer; daughter Lisette Hamer-Richardson; sons Jared Hamer, Avel Solomon and Lino Solomon; the mother of his children, Denita Weatherby; nine siblings, Vicki Sprague, Patty Hamer, Billy Hamer, Flavious Hamer, Laura Collins, Angie Hamer, Mellissa Hamer, Justin Hamer and Jerimiah Hamer; and grandson X'Rion.
A private memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the American Legion in Albany for Mike's immediate family, but all are welcome to follow the procession at noon from the American Legion to Timber-Linn Memorial Park where he will be honored for his military service. All family and friends are invited to a celebration of life that will be held at the American Legion immediately after the military honors.
