Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth, affectionately known as Millie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 13, 2024, at the age of 100 in Albany, Oregon. Born on April 14, 1924, in Carroll, Nebraska.

Millie spent her early years in Nebraska moving to Corvallis, Oregon in 1942. She served  during World War II as a member of the US Army Air Corps. Millie was an optician at the Corvallis Clinic for over 30 years.  She was a long-term member of Grace Lutheran Church in Corvallis, Oregon.

In her personal life, Millie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Ray Babb,. until his passing. She is survived by two sisters – Betty Hagberg in Michigan and Darlene Smith in Iowa. She is survived by her son, Walter Babb, and her daughter, Sandra Marrs.  She is a grandmother and a great grandmother.

Millie's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She was an expert player of contract bridge, she was an avid golfer and in later years followed golf on television. Millie was also skilled in sewing and knitting crafts that reflected her attention to detail and her creative spirit.

The memory of Millie is one of warmth and brightness, a beacon of the love and joy she shared so freely. She lived her century of life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and affection. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, her friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As we bid farewell to Millie, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the moments we were blessed to share with her.
