Mildred Elzene Holmes Feb. 24, 1920 - Dec. 10, 2009Mildred Elzene Holmes, 89, of Albany, died Thursday at Regency of Albany.She was born to Hilda Peterson and Fay Douglass in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  She moved to Albany in 1921 and graduated from Albany High School.  She then met and later married Sgt. Joseph Holmes on Oct. 11, 1942.Her husband, parents and brother Derrill preceeded her in death.She is survived by her daughter Marilyn and her husband Larry Lisk of Everett, Wash., sons William and his girlfriend Bonnie Dasenko, Derrill and wife Ruth and Kenneth all of Albany; grandchildren Larry Lisk of Marysville, Wash, Diane and husband Sean Hawkins of Bothell Wash., James and William Holmes of Albany; great -grandchildren Conor and Cameron Hawkins; and sisters Dorene Shemwell and Mary Harvill of Albany.Anyone who met Mildred would remember her for her sweet smile, polite appreciative manor, sense of humor and constant optimism.  Always looking for the bright side, she taught her family by example and love.  She loved her family and friends, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.  She was a warm and loving soul and will be greatly missed.No public service is scheduled.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
