Obituary
M. LaVerne Hembree, 88, of Albany passed away Monday at the Family Ties Adult Foster Care Home.
She was born in Geddes, S.D., the daughter of Donald and Myrtle (Florey) Newsom. She was raised in McMinnville and married Edgar "Ed" Newton Hembree in McMinnville on July 17, 1940.
Ed and LaVerne owned and operated markets in Sweet Home, Springfield and Jefferson. She enjoyed sewing, playing piano and organ, drawing, reading, fishing, camping and gardening. LaVerne was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by daughters Judy and Barbara; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
At her request no public services will be held.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the kind staffs of Samaritan Evergreen Hospice and Family Ties Adult Foster Care for their caring help and support.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
