Nancy Lou Bacheller, 85, of Albany passed away Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Coll and Ann (Hutcheck) McLean. When she was 5, the family moved to Coos Bay where she received her education.
In 1945 she met Lewis A. Bacheller, who was serving in the U.S. Navy, at a bowling alley in North Bend. They were married a few months later on March 14, 1945, in Coos Bay at her parent's home. In June of 1946 they moved to San Bruno, Calif., where Lewis began a career with United Airlines that in June of 1969 brought them to San Jose, Calif. Nancy was a homemaker and preschool teacher at the Carter Avenue Preschool at the San Jose Open Bible Church for 25 years and sold Avon to buy bicycles for children.
In 1980 Nancy and Lewis began attending Bethel Assembly of God Church in San Jose where they were very involved with "Saints Alive" and Nancy was involved in Women's Ministries and many other functions of the church. In January of 2007 Nancy and Lewis moved to Albany to be near family.
She enjoyed traveling and was able to go to Europe, Tahiti, Fiji and Samoa, but most of all she loved her trips to Hawaii and sitting in the sun.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lewis A. Bacheller of Albany; son L. Joe and wife Gay Bacheller of Aurora, Colo.; daughter Linda and husband Dennis Bowen of Scio; granddaughters Shelly and husband Jason Hanson of Lebanon, and Monique and husband Doug Parazoo of Scio; grandsons Greg Bacheller and wife Krissy, Jeff Bacheller and wife Kortney, and Steve Bacheller and wife Brigette, all of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren Ashley, Steffie and Anthony Johnson, Josh and Justin Parazoo, and Katie, Rachael, Caley and Lawson Bacheller.
A visitation and reception will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. at the Bilyeu-Den Cemetery in Scio.
