IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Anne
(Nygren) Deforest
August 8, 1968 – November 4, 2016
Nancy Anne DeForest passed away in peace and comfort Friday, November 4, 2016, and was lovingly attended to by the staff at Evergreen Hospice House in her hometown of Albany, OR. Her family was at her side and helped ease her transition to her next adventure in peace. She showed strength, love, and courage to her family even as her last moments were upon her. Nancy was greatly loved by her family and will be missed always.
Nancy was born to Joan and Carl Nygren on August 8th, 1968 at Albany General Hospital, she being their second of eventually three children. Nancy spent her youth in happy times with her sisters roaming the hillsides of the family farm, exploring on foot and horseback the beauty of Oregon's Willamette Valley. She had a fondness and strong connection with almost all animals from a very young age, a trait her parents encouraged and supported. She had an especially soft spot in her heart for anything with feathers, with chickens being a favorite.
After successful years in the Albany school system, Nancy moved to Portland, OR and attended Portland State University, successfully attaining a degree in Business Administration with a focus on process management. She used her knowledge to great skill, both as an individual and team-focused employee with varied companies within Oregon. She ultimately ended her professional career with Bookbyte in Salem, OR having helped with many proprietary data manipulation programs to help them be successful in their market.
Nancy was married to Mark DeForest April 20th, 1998, and they lived in Salem for many years enjoying the city and suburban lifestyle. However, Nancy's true joy was found in the care of animals, and she possessed a strong drive to farm and garden. In June of 2008 she and her husband Mark moved to rural property outside of Sweethome, OR where she spent her final days in the labor and happiness of a self-sustaining country lifestyle.
Nancy is survived by her parents Carl and Joan Nygren, her sisters Constance Nygren and Lynn Hoke, and her husband Mark.
