Nancy was born on June 9,1943, in Sitka, Alaska, to Sam and Ada Boyd.  Her Dad, Sam, migrated from Ireland at the age of 10 and was processed into the U.S. at Ellis Island in New York.  Years later Sam met Ada, who was teaching school in Eureka, Ca.  Ada made it clear to Sam that if he wanted to get married he would have to move to Alaska.  So he did.  But before that they eloped in Reno, Nv.  They then moved to Sitka, Alaska.  Nancy was one of six children, all born in Alaska.  She is survived by her husband, Larry, of 53 years, two children, Sarah and Joseph, five grandchildren and two sisters;  Mary Boyd of Palmer, Alaska, and Margaret Brockman of Wasilla, Alaska.  Nancy and Larry started their Alaskan adventure in Nome, Alaska, after Nancy told Larry that if he wanted to get married he would have to go to Nome. So he did. They were married in Juanita, Washington, camped out up the Alaska Highway for 12 days, then moved to Nome, where Nancy had a signed teaching contract for the next year. They then became home missionaries to a remote fishing village on Kodiak Island. Nancy loved life and everyone she met.    After graduating from high school in Palmer, Alaska, in 1961, she earned her Associate degree at Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, Washington.  She then transferred to Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, Washington,  where she earned her B.A. degree in Education.  She met her husband, Larry, at Northwest Bible College in 1961, but they were not married until June 20, 1970, two years after Larry completed four years in the U.S. Air Force.
