Norma Ann Brickell passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany.
Norma was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado, on Jan. 28, 1942, to Friedrich P. Noetzelmann and Audrey L. (Bartholomew) Noetzelmann.
She grew up and attended school in Ft. Collins and Denver, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Battleground, Washington.
In 1965, Norma graduated from Poudre School of Practical Nursing and became certified by the Colorado State Board of Nursing. She then worked in the health care field for over 35 years. Her career encompassed being a surgical OR scrub tech nurse in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Lebanon. Later, in an administrative role, Norma supervised and oversaw the staff and sterile processing of the entire OR in Reno, Nevada. Later in life, she worked for the State of Oregon at the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in Albany and Corvallis. She retired in 2012.
Norma attended St. John's Orthodox Lutheran Church in Lebanon, and actively studied the Bible.
Norma enjoyed all of the outdoors, particularly the beach. She also loved flower/landscape gardening, family game nights, and especially her family. Her little dachshund Heidi was a treasured companion.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Friedrich Noetzelmann (1979) and Audrey Noetzelmann (1984); and ex-husbands William Liggett, Robert Bergstrom and Richard Brickell.
Norma is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Frederick R. and Janie Noetzelmann of Albany; sister Vickie P. Wimberly Weber of Albany; son and daughter-in-law William P. and Lisa Bergstrom of Lebanon; daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Tracy Gay of Childress, Texas; niece and husband Jennifer (Wimberly) and Rick Ackerman and their children, Parker, Addison and Audrey of Canby; nephew Frederick (Buddy) Wimberly of Kansas City, Missouri; niece LeeAnn Noetzelmann and partner Brian Courtright and their daughter, Kylee Courtright of Albany; grandsons Andrew Bergstrom, Jordan Bergstrom of Lebanon and Dillon McVein of Portland; granddaughters Kimi and husband Tyler Arbuckle, Aimee Gay, and Calliope Gay of Childress, Texas; and great-grandson Stetson Arbuckle of Childress, Texas.
Memorials in her name can be directed to St. John's Orthodox Lutheran Church of Lebanon.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. John's Orthodox Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
