IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paula Jean
Hammer
November 10, 1954 – December 31, 2024
Paula Jean Hammer passed on December 31st, 2024, after a brief illness. She went to be with Jesus; an Earth angel got her wings.
Paula was born in November of 1954, to parents Paul and Nola Waggoner, who also had two sons, Rich of Gresham, Oregon, and Ron of Troutdale, Oregon.
She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Nora.
She married in 1974 to Jim Hutchens and was a faithful wife and mother. They divorced in 1997. She was a single mom with two children, Josh, born in 1979, and Dora Jean, born in 1988. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she picked herself up and enrolled at LBCC where she got a degree in Business and Office Management with excellent grades. Soon after she was working at the Council of Government in Albany, where she worked with seniors and disabled clients. She became a case manager and visited with people at various nursing homes and other senior facilities.
In her spare time and most weekends she loved to garden. She enjoyed her koi pond and her 12 palm trees planted on Mother's Day in 2007. She loved her bird feeder which allowed her to see Blue Jays and Woodpeckers. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Albany, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved the Lord and sang her praise to the Lord.
She had seven grandchildren who she loved dearly. Josh and his second wife had one child named Melody, named to honor Paula's love of singing. Josh then had three more children: first Paul, then Allen, and finally Kylie Anne with his third wife Heather. Dora Jean married Shawn Wynes in 2015 and had three children: Jack, Marianna, and Mackena. Paula loved and cherished all of her children and grandchildren.
In 1998 she met her husband Michael Hammer and they had 26 years of love and forgiveness for all of their own baggage. They were married in 2001. She was the love of Michael's life. She will be missed very much.
In death she has donated her corneas to someone who needs their sight restored. Through her kindness and devotion to others, she was truly a servant to the Lord.
