On Saturday, November 24, 2012, Phyllis Whitaker, of Albany, Oregon, left this world the way she lived it, surrounded by her family and those who loved her. She was born on August 31, 1944 in Hammond, Indiana. She will be missed dearly.
Phyllis was a loving wife and mother who filled her younger days caring for children, and her retirement years doting over her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, trips to the casinos, garage sales, doing crafts, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of over 42 years, Hubert E."Woody" Whitaker, her five children, Sheri "Sherbear"(Ray) Nordengreen, Timmy "Timbo" (Anne) Henry, Penny "PennyDenny" Whitaker, Mary "Tonie-boney" (Michael) Aungst, Kimberly "Kimmy" (Daniel) Hill; her grandchildren Stephanie Schaffer, Ashley Bourrell, Joshua Whitaker, Brandon Whitaker, Deanna Nordengreen, Braxton Hill, Tommy Henry, and Madison Hill; her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Liam, Rylan, Nevaeh, and Kaylee Grace; sisters Linda (Ed) McCallister, Crystal Brandt; brother Joseph Brazlovitz; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Michael Alb, and brother Bill Quillin.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Aasum-Dufour funeral home in Albany, Oregon. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Samaritan Hospice House in Albany or American Lung Cancer Association.
