Randall Lewis Purkey, 65, of Albany passed away on Sunday at his residence.
Randall was born in Klamath Falls to Carl Lewis and Sanna Joyce (McGilvary) Purkey. He grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. After his time in the service he went to OSU and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering and later received his master's degree. His work as a chemical engineer took him to Wah Chang, the Bureau of Mines, Saudi Arabia and Zambia. He retired in 1998 but continued to take small jobs that peaked his interest.
Randall enjoyed traveling, skiing and solving Sudoku and cross word puzzles. He was always a member of the local gym and the VFW and American Legion Albany Posts.
Randall is survived by his father, Carl Lewis Purkey of Albany; sisters Jean and husband Randall Eilers of Albany, and Carla Zegers of Newport; and brother Eric Purkey and wife Cindy of Albany.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sanna Perky, and a brother-in-law.
