Obituary

Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Mutschler, 63, passed away on August 6, 2025 at her home in Albany, Oregon. She was surrounded by her husband and immediate family.

Becky was born in Norwalk, California to Henry (Hank) and Sandra (Sandy) Espinoza on March 31, 1962. She grew up at various locations in Southern California and graduated High School in Big Bear City, California where she was on the Varsity Cheerleading Team and Student Council. She moved with her family to Oregon in 1982.

In the Fall of 1983 Becky met her future husband, Jay Mutschler. Together they moved to Bend, Oregon in 1984 to start a new life together. Becky managed Bend Rental Helps while Jay pursued a degree in Electronics. They were married in 1985. In 1986 their first daughter Jayme was born. 1987 brought another change as they moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon so Jay could finish his bachelor's degree at OIT. Becky supported the family by working for the Andersch Family, opening and managing a Rent-to Own store. In 1989 Jay graduated and was hired by Hewlett Packard in Corvallis, Oregon. This brought them full circle, back to where they first met. Becky continued to open and manage additional Rent to Own stores in the area until there was a total of Five. In 1991 their son Jacob was born and in 1993, daughter Jerika.  By 1996, with the kids growing, they decided to buy 5 acres in North Corvallis and build a house. Becky worked as a property manager for a few years but transitioned to a home-based business selling gift bags in order to be flexible and volunteer at the kid's schools. Later she became an associate with Legalshield for nearly 20 years. The next 17 years were spent here on the "mini farm". They raised cattle, goats, a horse, and sheep. All kids were in 4-H, raising a sheep each year to show at the county fair. Becky once saved a breached lamb by reaching in and pulling it from the ewe during birth.

Over the last 34 years Becky and Jay were also real estate investors. They had various rental properties and renovated houses to sell. They renovated a total of over 33 houses. Becky became an expert at painting, interior design, upgrading electrical fixtures, and marketing the properties. She also managed all rental properties.

Throughout their lives Jay and Becky loved to travel. The family took over a dozen trips to Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as well as San Diego, Sedona, The Grand Canyon, and Hawaii. Later with the kids grown, they continued traveling as a couple, to Canada, various states, and many National Parks. They also took a total of five Caribbean cruises, visiting many islands, South America, Central America, and sailed through the Panama Canal.

One of Becky's passions was helping people, always putting others before herself. From volunteering at schools, to being involved with the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce and New Business Generation, or just talking on the phone to a friend or family member in need. Another passion was spending time with her grandchildren Jayden and Jaston. Whether it was a sleepover, watching movies, or just being silly, she cherished those memories. She was always instrumental in bringing the family together for birthdays, holidays, and celebrations. She would plan and prepare delicious feasts year after year. Her warm smile and affectionate hugs would always brighten the room, and she loved to take photos/videos when everyone was together. Becky was also a very spiritual person, and remained connected to loved ones even when they had long since passed away.

Becky had many friends and touched many lives. She will be missed greatly and never forgotten.

Becky is preceded in death by her mother Sandra (Sandy) Espinoza. She is survived by her husband Jay, children: Jayme (Candee) of Bend, Oregon, Jacob of Portland, Oregon, and Jerika of Albany, Oregon., Grandchildren: Jayden and Jaston (Jayme), Father: Henry (Hank) Espinoza Jr of Corvallis, Oregon, and Brothers: Greg Espinoza of Bend, Oregon and Mike Espinoza of Bend, Oregon.
