Reymundo Gonzalez Jr.

Reymundo "Rey" Gonzalez Jr., 43, of Albany went to be with the Lord on Thursday at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center of heart failure.
Rey was born in Alice, Texas, to the late Reymundo Gonzalez Sr. and Juanita "Janie" (Cardona) Gonzalez. His siblings are sister Odilia Ridders and husband Mike, and brothers Jesse Gonzalez and Steve Mills.
In 1990 he met and fell in love with Cheryl Percey, his wife of 23 years. He fathered and mentored in his image three sons, Anthony Ray, Jacob W.S., and Ryan James and wife Joan Gonzalez. He cherished and loved two grandchildren, Taiden Rey Gonzalez and Catheryn Sue Gonzalez.
Rey attended South Albany High School and Linn-Benton Community College. Over his adult life he worked as a machine operator, mill-wright, foreman and all around mechanic in the Albany area. His hobbies consisted of outdoors, camping, computers, football (Go Cowboys!) and spending time with family and friends. He was always ready for a joke and a laugh.
He will be loved and remembered by his wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, brothers, sons, many aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces, grandkids, numerous cousins, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and many great nephews and nieces, as well as too many life-long friends to mentions.
Rey was preceded in death by his father, Reymundo Gonzales Sr., father-in-law Bill Percey, stepfather-in-law Hal Van De Mark, his grandparents and beloved kitty Simson.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with a graveside of cremated remains to follow at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany. There will be a reception at 4 p.m. at Eastside Christian Church in the Agape Room following the graveside.
