Obituary

Richard O. Fisbeck of Albany went to be with Jesus on June 13, 2014.

He was born during a blizzard on Jan. 18, 1936, on the family farm in Helvey, Nebraska. His father had to climb a telephone pole with a lantern to show the doctor where to turn in.

Richard's father was Lester H. Fisbeck and his mother was Viola Kullman Fisbeck. Richard was the second of seven children. The other six survive: sister Nadean Polanka of Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers Merl Fisbeck and wife Debbie, and Don Fisbeck and Ron Fisbeck, all of Salem; sister Barbara Schmidt and husband Leroy of Albany; and brothers Lester Fisbeck Jr. and wife Pam of Hayden, Idaho. Richard has many nieces and nephews.

Richard moved to Oregon from Nebraska with his family in 1956. He met and married Charlotte L. Poe, who had moved to Oregon from Colorado in 1956. They were married July 11, 1957, in Corvallis. They had two children, son Terry R. Fisbeck of Albany and daughter Connie S. Wagner of Lebanon. Richard's grandchildren are Amber Cherry (husband Talon and children Katelyn and Jayden), Ashley Wagner, Karli Wagner, Melissa Fisbeck and Nicholas Fisbeck.
Richard's parents preceded him in death.

Richard worked for Fisher Implement Company as a mechanic for 15 years and then as a salesman, for a total of 30 years. After retiring at the age of 62 he mowed grass, rototilled gardens and cut wood to sell until he moved to the town of Albany in 2003. He considered his customers as friends, and loved people.

Richard was part of the family of God at Albany First Assembly for more than 30 years. He enjoyed being involved in ministries such as the "un-garage sale" the senior group used to be involved in.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Albany First Assembly Mission Fund, the Alzheimer's Foundation or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, in care of AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Albany First Assembly, 2817 Santiam Highway S.E., Albany, OR 97322.
