Obituary

Richard Clay "Dick" JacksonSeptember 9, 1954 - March 25, 2009Richard Clay "Dick" Jackson was born in Portland, September 9, 1954, left us on March 25 to join his family and friends who preceded him.He was preceded in death by his only niece, Alison Lebus Harlan, brother, Anthony "Tony" Jackson and grandmother, Catherine Mitchell and step father Roy Tutle.Richard moved from Portland when he was still in grade school and attended school here in Albany.  He later worked at Golden West for several years as an electrician.  He then was employed at Veal's Furniture where he worked as a finish inspector until the plant closed.  his love of wood working inspired him to open his own shop named Revealed Woods, where he specialized in refinishing and restoring furniture.Dicks talents extended into his many hobbies.  He loved creating items for his niece and nephew and all of his adopted ones as well.  He also had a passion for detailed models of planes and sailing ships.  Pets from goldfish to gerbils.  Cats to dogs, especially his beloved Dachsies. He had many friends from New Zealand to Florida and of course his family and friends here in Albany.  If you needed something repaired, call Dick first.  If he couldn't fix it, he knew who could or he would find out.Got kids?  let's go visit "Uncle Dick".  A story teller par excellence.  He would convince you that an overly large cat was really a wild kitty.  Or the black and white cows in the adjacent fields were the ones who gave chocolate milk.  Needless to say he will be missed.Dick is survived by his mother, Jan Tuttle of Albany, sister Marla  and husband Rick Lebus; nephews, Devon and Josh, Lebus, and wife Amy, of Portland.  Sister in law Debbie Jackson and son Shawn of Albany.A farewell celebration of his life will be held April 3, at 1:00 pm at Aasum-Dufour Funeral Home.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
