Obituary

Richard L. "Dick" VanOrden, 83, of Corvallis passed away on Saturday at his home.
Richard was born in Ryderwood, Washington, and later moved to Reedsport where he graduated from high school. He attended Linfield for one year before serving his country during the Korean War as an Air Force radio technician on the flight lines.
After his service he graduated from OIT and went to work for Willamette and Siuslaw National Forests as an electronics tech until his retirement. Working in is rose gardens brought him and his neighbors great joy.
Dick married Shirley Carlsen in 1957. He leaves behind his wife, daughter Sherri and husband Robert; son Steven and wife Alison; and four grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Benton Hospice in care of the funeral home.
