Robert "Tractor Bob" Duane Brillon
April 28, 1940 - April 02, 2014
Robert D. Brillon, 73, of Albany passed away on Wednesday at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.
Bob was born in Corvallis to Ralph and Hildreth (Galloway) Brillon. He grew up on a farm south of Corvallis, and graduated from Corvallis High School in 1958. He married Patricia Hoffman in Lebanon, on Aug. 13, 1960, and they resided in Corvallis.
Bob worked in the Plywood mill and later ran the Maverick Gas Station on H 20. Bob was a reserve with the Benton County Sheriffs Department for about 13 years. He also taught auto tune up classes at LBCC and enjoyed coaching his son's Little League teams. Later he became the foreman at Reynolds Farm, where he spent the next 10 years.
In 1982 he and Pat moved to Albany and he became self employed doing custom tractor work and was most known as "Tractor Bob." Also, upon moving to Albany, he finally followed his passion of being a hunting and fishing guide. It was no secret that Bob lived and breathed hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed sharing that knowledge and passion with friends and family. Occasionally if you went to Bi-Mart, you could hear duck calls bellowing out from the sporting goods department, as Bob would be trying out the latest ones! It was not uncommon for a crowd to gather. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, Steelheaders Association, Ducks Unlimited, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat Brillon of Albany; sons Terry Brillon, and Rob Brillon and wife Vonda all of Albany; grandchildren Chelsie Conrad and husband Mike of Washougal, Wash., and Travis Brillon, Dustin Brillon, and Chad Brillon, all of Albany; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Albany. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service in the Gathering Space.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
